Mt Washington Cog Railway at the Summit with Biodiesel M4
The summit of Mt. Washington, the highest mountain in the eastern USA. The Mt. Washington Cog Railway has been operating here for a century and a half. They started with wood burning steam engines and then switched to coal burning steamers, most trips now are powered by biodiesel locomotives that were built by the Cog Railway. For a time the Cog was opereated as a branch line of the Boston and Maine. It is now a family owned business. A typical train is one antique wooden coach pushed by a biodiesel. The engine is always on the end of the train nearest the base station. On most days there is one steam train in the early morning but I am no longer capable of jumping out of bed at dawn and driving to Mt. Washington.
