Bradford, MA - Two Trains
Bradford, Massachusetts - The west end of Bradford Station. Amtrak Downeaster Train Number 685 running on the eastward (outbound) track. MBTA/Keolis Train Number 213 is on the westward (inbound) track and will be making a station stop at Bradford. Amtrak calls its Downeaster trains nortbounds and southbounds but I am using traditional Boston and Maine RR terminology. In all the old employee timetables the direction from Boston to Portland is given as eastward. The MBTA web site carried a note that train 215 (the train after 213) was delayed by a brush fire. Perhaps the brush fire also affected 213 and 685. The MBTA web site did not mention the location of the fire. However earlier in the day I heard scanner chatter that the Lawrence Fire Department was responding to smoking railroad ties near old passenger station which has been replaced by a modern station. At about the time of this photo I also heard Lawrence firefigters talking about being on the tracks without mentioning a specific location. Track crews have been busy in Lawrence and North Andover today. Not sure if the track work caused the fire.
